As a Lead Product Designer at Cognizant Softvision you will be responsible for defining what elegant, simple, highly usable interfaces look like to  millions of people around the world. You will be faced with complex problem spaces in any given industry. You will collaborate with product owners, project managers, engineers and other designers to produce innovative and top quality work for our clients. You will work closely with the Design Manager to make sure the design team is always up to date with industry best practices and team dynamic remains strong. 

A successful Lead Product Designer has eagerness to jump in and solve problems with a unique combination of proven talent and ability in all facets of design. Lead Product Designers are often asked to analyze and produce actionable strategies to help solve the problem at hand. They must also be comfortable engaging with clients and managing the execution of objectives. 


  • 7+ years working in design industry

  • 3+ years of working in a product-led organization

  • Experience providing design direction and mentoring to junior colleagues

  • A strong visual aesthetic and design point of view, exampled in a rich portfolio

  • Informed and strong opinions, loosely held

  • A practitioner of user-centric processes and design thinking principles


  • Proactive: Takes charge and makes decisions with ease 

  • Values teamwork: Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional and distributed teams around the world, involving designers, developers and QA engineers

  • Apply design processes from beginning to end based on industry best practices to ensure world class design experiences

  • Strong understanding of information architecture, multi-step and cross-platform flows

  • Produce and define UX documentation to support the design process

  • Produce and conduct UX research plans

  • Understand and advocate for core accessibility standards within the team and organization

  • Design, define or vet existing design systems to support the design team

  • Facilitate and/or lead design workshops with team members and stakeholders

  • Contribute to high-level strategic decisions at a team and project level

  • Understand customer and client needs, motivations and behaviors and translate them into actionable deliverables

  • Have strong  client management skills. You can articulate and lead discussions around your process, explorations and conclusions

  • Communicate with leads from multiple departments such as PM, QA and Development teams 

  • Understand of best practices, development and trends in enterprise, web, mobile, iOS and Material Design

  • Mentor and provide feedback to junior/intermediate designers

  • Champion design thinking and user-centered design throughout the team and the broader organization


  • Proficiency with current design tools including Figma, Sketch, XD, Adobe Creative Suite, etc

  • Proficiency in facilitation tools (Miro, Mural, Freehand, Whimsical, etc)

  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral

  • Excellent presentation skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft & Google product suite

  • An understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other key web technologies
