GETTING TO KNOW JEFF
What was your first job?
I worked as a bank teller while I was in high school. I’m a big believer that everyone should have a customer service job at some point in their lifetime.
What do you like to do in your free time?
In the winter I am an avid skier and play in a curling league. In the summer, I play for a softball team and try to ride my bike as often as possible. In between sports, I’m probably at a brewery looking for new IPAs.
Any upcoming travel plans?
Next month I will be headed to Palwan in the Philippines. Hoping to make a trip to Israel or Turkey in the new year.
What’s the best Halloween costume you’ve ever had?
I once wore an entire inflatable raft as part of a Halloween costume.
What’s your hidden talent/super power?
I can bake the best challah bread this west of the Mississippi.
If you had to eat one food for every meal, what would you eat?
Montréal-style bagels, hands down.
JEFF AT WORK
What are your roles and duties at Cognizant Softvision?
I lead end-to-end delivery for Cognizant Softvision’s energy clients, including client relationship management, as well as resource planning. Additionally, I am the community lead for the Vancouver project management group. Fortunately, I get the opportunity to wear many hats to help grow our Canadian innovation studio to partner with clients on the latest technology ideas.
Describe a day-in-the-life at Cognizant Softvision
I travel quite often to meet with different clients around the globe, so I spend a lot of time working hands-on with our partners to understand and identify how we can help them achieve the most value while also remaining forward-thinking in their technology approach. When I’m in the office, I’m often juggling my email inbox and meeting with our project teams to solve problems and keep them moving forward.
What are some ways you support and motivate your team?
I find the best way to support people is to always make time to listen to the team’s ideas and help foster creativity. In addition, I make a point to celebrate milestones with drinks or lunch to keep team motivation high.
What do you find the most rewarding about working at Cognizant Softvision?
I love being able to work with teams all across the globe and always learn new things from colleagues. Albeit, having beer on tap in our Vancouver office is a close second favorite.
