In this edition, we talk with Esteban Solis, Product Manager in our Austin Studio


What was your first job?
I was a golf caddy at the municipal golf course.

What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy running and using it to clear my mind.

Any upcoming travel plans?
I plan on attending Formula 1 in Austin and traveling to Mexico City.

What’s the best Halloween costume you’ve ever had?
The red power ranger at the age of 10 years old.

What’s your hidden talent/super power?
Having the ability to eat unreasonable amounts of free pastries at hotels.

If you had to eat one food for every meal, what would you eat?
Any type of pastry.


What’s your role at Cognizant Softvision?
I am a product manager that works closely with the product owner to lead a pack software engineer and quality engineers to build a great product. I work to use all data and possible technologies to create the future of products.

Describe a day-in-the-life at work.

  • A daily standup with the engineers and determining on what everyone is working on and if there are any dependencies or issues that I as the PM can help to solve. 
  • Meetings with other teams to determine and finalize on timelines.
  • Working with the UI team to approve the final designs of the product and determine the feasibility of the design.
  • Finishing the day with creating user stories on the new UI and changes of the timeline from team meetings.

What are some ways you support and motivate your team?
You always have to joke about the situation that your team is currently in good or bad and realize if we relax and compose yourself we can solve any problem.

What do you find the most rewarding about working at Cognizant Softvision?
The diversity of ideas and using this diversity to learn something new in the technology field every day.
