One of our client’s is a global assurance, advisory, tax and transaction advisory firm. Their flagship product, a premier tax auditing platform, improves the often times, cumbersome auditing process for the end-user by offering a high-quality, transparent and user-friendly solution. The platform allows users to streamline communication, mitigate unnecessary emails and reduce routine administration that allows for a more succinct and efficient auditing process.

Cognizant has worked closely with the client’s internal product team for several years to define and implement features and updates that are delivered quarterly to the platform. The internal team is comprised of 77 team members, across eight key teams, one half of the team is located in the US and the other half of the team is in Southeast Asia – with a respective nine-hour time difference between the two of them. Knowing the significant time zone constraints this working model brings, as there is only roughly 1.5 hours of working hours that overlap between each team, productivity and the ability to collaborate between the two teams, is often compromised.

The added complexity of introducing an abundant number of new features on a continuous cadence of every three months has left very little time for the client to dedicate, focus and implement a new process that could potentially disrupt delivery.


Seeing the opportunity that the Cognizant Softvision delivery model brings, the client brought on Cognizant Softvision to help showcase a way to increase collaboration and quality, without compromising delivery.

To ensure our engineered outcome is a cohesive, unified platform, our product and design teams are held to the same KPIs, measuring on velocity, quality, product impact, and autonomy allowing for a seamless transition upon rollout.

The six-member Pod is tailored to the specific needs of our client, combining technical expertise and in-depth knowledge of the tax auditing platform. By bringing on our Global talent, we immediately addressed the time constraints of the client as the Pod curated specifically for the needs of the client, aligned much closer to the client’s US team, allowing for over six hours of working time zone overlap. This allows the two teams to not only begin collaborating on upcoming feature updates and defining the product roadmap enhancements, but build those features out to where they are completely 100% functional upon delivery.


With the implementation of the Pod model, the Cognizant Softvision team is able to showcase that having an agile delivery team within the same working time zone hours not only increases productivity and quality, but significantly lowers costs.

By use of the Cognizant Softvision model, new product engineer sprints are being implemented with a primary focus on building out an MVP (minimally viable product) allowing the Pod to rapidly build and evolve upcoming platform features.

This process demonstrates the ability to put in place better processes and workflows, especially when it comes to testing automation as it has the potential to lower total testing time from months to a handful of weeks – saving millions of dollars. Additionally, by using the Cognizant Softvision approach, the client’s US team has the opportunity to focus on the backlog of requests dedicated to the platform – increasing overall delivery going forward.
